The McPherson Museum will celebrate Kansas Day on January 29 by offering reduced admission. Cost to view all exhibits will be $1.05 per person, an amount representing and honoring the 105 counties located in Kansas. Admission hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free cookies available from 1 to 4 p.m. provided by the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Museum artifacts had a humble beginning being stored in a McPherson College classroom as early as 1890. The McPherson Museum was officially established in 1968 with an agreement between McPherson College and the City of McPherson. The artifacts were moved to a Tudor Revival home at 1130 E. Euclid where the City eventually became the sole owner. In 1984, the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation (MMAF) was incorporated but remained fully funded by the City of McPherson. The MMAF registered as a non-profit organization and took full responsibility for the museum in 1999, which remained at the Euclid Street location until 2012. The museum moved to its current location at 1111 E. Kansas and continues to be the only community museum in McPherson.
