2019 PROJECT UPDATES: Week of September 9 - 13

Improving McPherson’s street infrastructure in an ongoing process. Project Updates 2019 provides timely information about specific projects. The intent is to keep residents informed about current projects, street closings, detours and progress. Project details and timelines can change depending on weather or project conditions. SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sidewalks and other improvements in the Roosevelt Elementary School neighborhood.
2. Street Closures & Detours – None
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Driveways and sidewalks have been completed from Avenue F to Avenue C. Driveway removal has begun on Oak Street heading north from Avenue A. Crews have also been on site completing pavement markings on Main Street and setting signs along Gildersleeve, Lincoln and Chestnut Streets.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined

HARTUP STREET/ELIZABETH STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Hartup Street from Avenue A to Kansas Avenue; Elizabeth Street from Hartup Street to South Park Street; Hartup Street from Kansas Avenue to East Marlin Street. Project includes sanitary sewer extensions from Hartup Street from Hancock Street to Elizabeth Street and Grand Avenue from Elizabeth Street to Hancock Street. The projects are being constructed simultaneously.
2. Street Closures & Detours – South Hartup Street from Avenue A to Hancock Street is closed to thru traffic with local access from both Avenue A and Hancock Street. Park Street will be the detour for north and south traffic. Local traffic can access south Hartup Street at Seitz Street.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Contractor continues to install storm sewer pipe and structures on south Hartup Street, the area south of Hancock Street to Seitz Street.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined

GRIMES STREET/ANNA STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Drainage issues and street reconstruction will be addressed along Grimes Street. Improvements include new curb and gutter and a storm sewer pipe, which will carry water down Anna Street to be dumped into the ditch near McPherson High School.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Anna Street remains closed from North High Drive to Grimes Street. Detour from North High Drive to Main Street is still in place.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – The 10’x3’ storm box was placed from North High Drive to the alley between Barber Street and Wheeler Street. The box bridge was constructed at the McPherson High School entrance. Storm inlets were installed from North High Drive to the alley between North High Drive and Myers Street. Crushed concrete base was completed at the North High Drive and Anna Street intersection. Curb and gutter was completed at the North High Drive and Anna Street intersection and at the McPherson High School entrance. Sidewalk placement at the North High Drive and Anna Street intersection will occur on Friday, September 6. Future work includes concrete pavement placement at the North High Drive and Anna Street intersection and the McPherson High School entrance. Additional work includes placement of the 10’x3’ storm box from the alley between Barber Street and Wheeler Street to Grimes Street, installing the storm inlet from the intersection of Myers Street and Anna Street to Grimes Street, and completing ditch lining south of the bridge at McPherson High School.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – Current detours will remain in place.

EAGLE’S WINGS ESTATES UNIT TWO, PHASE I PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sonora Drive from East Northview Road north through Disability Supports of the Great Plains.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Sonora Drive between Northview Road and Wickersham Drive is scheduled to open the week of September September 9.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Contractor is completing final project cleanup. Housing units building contractors continue to work. City of McPherson BPU continues to install electrical conduit on the west side of the project.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined

EAGLE’S WINGS ESTATES UNIT TWO, PHASE II PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sonora Drive from Disability Supports to tie-in south of Wickersham Drive, Mackenzie Court and Kaiser Court.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Sonora Drive between Northview Road and Wickersham Drive is scheduled to open the week of September September 9.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Contractor is completing final project cleanup.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined

HULSE DRAINAGE PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Ditch improvements from Main Street near Tractor Supply to 1st Street adjacent to McPherson High School. Seven box culverts will be replaced and retaining walls and ditch lining will be installed in critical areas along the channel.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Grimes Street is closed from Windsor Street to Normandy Street. The driveway remains closed between the Dillons and Tractor Supply parking lots. Half of Myers Street is closed north of Hulse Street.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Reinforced concrete box (RCB) construction is underway along Grimes Street and at Tractor Supply. Channel retaining wall construction is underway between Grimes Street and Main Street. Future work includes continuation of Tractor Supply RCB reconstruction, completion of Grimes Street RCB reconstruction, continuation of Grimes Street overlay reconstruction, Myers Street RCB reconstruction and channel construction between Grimes Street and Main Street.
 4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined
