2021 Project Updates

Public Works Department

Improving McPherson’s street infrastructure is an ongoing process. Project Updates 2020 provides timely information about specific projects. The intent is to keep residents informed about current projects, street closings, detours, and progress. Project details and timelines can change depending on weather or project conditions. Lakeside Drive Update (9/27/2021) 

The Street Department, in conjunction with McPherson County Public Works, is reconstructing Lakeside Drive from Maxwell to Kansas Avenue. This past week grading and packing millings between Simpson and Euclid continued.  The stretch between Euclid and Kansas Avenue was milled and patched. McPherson County will be in soon (probably this week) and overlay this area.  The remainder of the E Lakeside Drive will be overlayed next year.

800 Block of North Elm Street Reconstruction (9/27/2021)

Work is scheduled to start on the reconstruction of the 800 block of North Ash Street later this week or early next week.

2021 Mill & Overlay Project

The mill and overlay project for this year is complete except for striping. 

The street milled and overlaid this year are:

  • Oak Park Drive (Grimes to North High Drive)
  • Ash Street (Kansas Avenue to Sutherland)
  • Elm Street (Kansas Avenue to Elizabeth)
  • Centennial Drive (Widening to 1st Street)

Northgate Drainage Project

The Northgate Drainage Project is scheduled to begin the first part of October.  The project was awarded to Prairie Landworks, McPherson in the amount of $326,000.00.  We will have be having a public meeting tomorrow, September 28, 2021.  The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., in the Commission Room, at the Municipal Center, 400 E Kansas.  Anyone interested in this project is invited to attend.
